Can I have your... aww, crap. Too late!
1) Yes, it is a "flaming thread" 100%. Usually when someone starts a sentence with "Not to be insulting" or "Don't take this the wrong way" they are usually about to say something insulting which could be taken any number of wrong ways.
Gate Camping - Otherwise known as an "Ambush", and is a perfectly acceptable tactic for modern warfare. You be sure to tell the terrorists who "camp" a stretch of road and wait for a passing HMMWV. Be sure to mention this whole time limit before moving along idea, they'll love it.
Skill Training - Is being very slowly addressed at the moment. The problem which CCP is attempting to avoid, is players using 1 character, and selling the other 2 for billions of ISK. Take a look in the forum for selling characters. A simple Hulk pilot, who couldn't even sit in their own races' frigate, still goes for more than 2bil most days. So the ability to mass produce any number of characters would only detract from people actually learning how to play the game. You'd just find a ton of eBay characters with no idea how to Fit, Tank, or basically operate the ships they "inherited".
Bounty Hunting - Does need addressed. Currently, it's little more than epeen for Pirates . "Look at me! I'm worth 500mil!" And whenever they're down on their luck and need some cash, they kill off a blank clone and collect their 500mil.
Courier Contracts - Also need addressed. There's been any number of threads bounced about discussing alternatives. Currently, you can be asked for 500mil in Collateral, to take a Freighter full of merchandise across 50 Low/Null Sec jumps, and collect 3.50ISK upon delivery. Obvious trap aside, there should be some ratio of Cargo m3/Collateral/Reward other than player selected.
Graphics - "Stars don't twinkle"? Perhaps that's because there's no atmosphere in space? And I'd love for you to further enlighten us with your astronomical knowledge of how many Gas Giants you've personally visited to confirm these spots? However, I will agree wholeheartedly, that EVE is a "space game" with very little "space" stuff in it. I'd love to see black holes, interactive nebulae, mineral rich comets, etc. Again, a very common thread.
Market - Knowing the prices throughout the known galaxy wouldn't affect matters much. Given that people will often pay a higher price for an item in their own station, than they would undock and head to even another station in the same system... I can't imagine that many would fly several regions, wasting game time that could be earning them ISK, just to save a little on some module. Sure, there may be times, but not many.
Mining - No one ever said that Mining had to be enjoyable. Ask some of the grubby faced folks who drive teeny tiny carts in underground shafts, or even the worn out haul trucks who drive the same stretch of road for endless hours. But it's a relatively simple and easy to perform task that brings you ISK. If you happen to have found other means, that doesn't imply that your prior professions should be completely erased from the servers. You're not the only player.
Blueprints - Reverse Engineering? You mean the pivotal skill necessary to make T3? That one?
Taxes - If you feel that some people aren't donating as much as they should... do what the IRS does. Make them file every year. Collect more from those who owe, and reimburse those who have overpaid.
Character Changes - This I can also agree with. It'd be nice to change names now and then, even for a fee. Other games seem to have dealt with it easy enough. I can't imagine changing a database value to a "forwarding address" until the old name is reused would be too hard to manage.
All in all... I'd say that you've summed up a lot of pretty common complaints and suggestions. Only now you've made a fool of yourself by saying "I don't like it. So I'm leaving" --- Don't take my ranting personally. I may just be arguing the topic, unless you're saying something stupid, and then I mean every word. "Players don't want Variety. They want THE BEST" |
